Everyone loves to get their electric car / EVs charged up for free! At both Ikea stores there are free chargers for EV available. Here we are going to dive into the Alexendra branch and show you some simple tricks to get that car of yours charged up!
Parking
With 3 reserved parking lots far from the entrance, you will occasionally find all 3 lots parked with EVs. Always arrive before peak hours for the best chance to get a free charge. Parking at this location is paid parking with a twist, the trick is to collect as many free parking coupons as possible and I’ll list the things to look out for in the next few paragraph.
1st is to always buy something when you are charging here. Buy anything above $5 for a 3 hour parking coupon, I always split my purchases if I am buying more. This gives me more coupons at the end of the day!
2nd is to sign up for Ikea membership because if you do not have a membership in your check out, you are not entitled to the parking coupon as stated in #1 above. Membership is free anyways! Sign up here.
3rd is to refund any slight defects or issues with your product, you can always buy the items again and buying anything again would always gives you more coupons anyway! I know this technically isn’t parking for free but would you rather pay the massively expensive parking here or buy something $5 or more which is pretty worth it in my opinion. 4th thing to note is that food items sold at Ikea technically do not count, they are not supposed to give the parking coupon for food items but you could actually get parking coupons when you are getting any item refunded which is good to accumulate more parking coupons!
Charging
With 3 Chargers (6 kwh) servicing 3 parking lots, charging is not easily available on weekends or peak-hours of the day. Weekdays and off-peak hours are the best to ensure parking and charging are available. Only Type 2 is available at this station with no APP support to check their availability status.
Amenities nearby
Ikea Alexendra Charger has a great location, with Ikea being already a really good store where adults could shop and eat while children can play and enjoy any their childcare facility. With ABC Brickworks, Alexendra Village Food Centre, and KFC nearby. This is a great location to park and if you are looking to purchase your next electric car, many car dealers are also nearby.
