Membership at Gardens by the Bay is pretty straight forward but with Sentosa being uniquely flooded with multiple attractions, it is hard to explain how one could get the membership and benefit from it.
In this article, I’ll explain the easiest way you could get this membership and the benefits it comes with.
Introduction
The membership is split into 3 tiers. Explorer, Insider and Priority. Now the best way to gain benefits from this membership is to get the insider or priority tiers. I will explain how you could do this easily and quickly if you do visit the island often enough.
Islander Explorer
Islander Explorer is a free tier with only welcome offers to benefit from. This tier is also where everyone starts earning points. With a minimum $20 spend required in a single receipt, you will be eligible to earn points. ($1 will earn you 1 Point)
How you could be upgraded to the Insider tier is by spending $400 (400 points) within a yearly period. You should achieve this within the shortest timeframe because if you spend $400 over a long period, you will not be able to enjoy the benefits as much.
Let me give you an example. Let’s say you spent $200 in Apr and $200 in Dec. You will be upgraded to priority in Dec and your benefits will only last from Dec till Apr the following year. Now if you spend $400 within the same month, you will be able to enjoy the priority benefits from April to April the following year.
You might ask, “How could you spend this amount in such a short period?”. My recommendation is to clock a day in Abora Faber Peak. I’ll recommend that you first get a family cable car membership. Add this to the Sentosa app to gain hundreds of points. On your birthday month, you redeem your free cake from the cable car membership and bring your extended family to Abora for a birthday celebration! End the day with a cable car ride to visit Sentosa and you will be able to hit this membership tier for sure.
Now remember that you need 400 points accumulated within the past year to maintain the insider membership. So you will need to either spend small amounts throughout the year after this initial upgrade or spend a big one every year.
What will you benefit from the priority tier after the upgrade?
Islander Insider Tier
If you drive, the best benefit you will get is the 4-hour free parking in Sentosa. If you drive, you know that parking in Sentosa is expensive. This is a huge benefit in my opinion as parking in Sentosa can be costly. This free parking is only available at selected Sentosa car parks, including Beach Station, Imbiah Lookout, Tanjong Beach and Palawan Beach car parks.
Overview of Insider Tier Benefits:
• $20 birthday treat (Cash Voucher)
• Up to 4 hours of free parking at selected car parks
• 365 days of free island admission
• Early access to curated experiences
• Welcome vouchers
• Earn 1 point for every S$1 spend
• Spend at least $20 in a single receipt to earn points
• Redeem vouchers with points earned
• Perks & benefits at participating outlets

Islander Priority Tier
The priority tier would be the hardest tier to get and also the one with the least amount of benefits. I wouldn’t recommend you getting this tier unless you really want that reserved parking at Beach Station.
On top of the Insider tier, you will also get the following:
• Reserved parking lots at Beach Station Car Park
• Invitation-only experiences
• Ability to redeem a one-night stay with 5,000 points
I’m not sure why the one-night stay is mentioned, but with 5,000 points achieved on your own, you cannot redeem this if you have spent your points within the membership year. Unless you are going for the reserved parking lots at Beach Station, there isn’t a need to get this membership tier.
With that being said, the other way of getting a Sentosa Islander Membership is by signing up for NTUC Membership. If you are planning to sign up for NTUC, you might as well get the free Sentosa Membership that comes along with it.
