Looking to purchase an EV? Buying an EV requires loads of communication with your dealer or with the person selling you the vehicle but there is something buyers always forget to talk about insurance premiums. It was the same for me when I didn’t ask about the premiums I needed to pay for my Nissan Leaf.
It was a little bit more troublesome when the price of insurance depends on the individual and the vehicle you are purchasing. With EVs being very new in the industry, the insurance premiums for this have been very shocking. If you are buying a new model, be prepared to pay a high premium. With some EVs being in the market for a longer period, this premium will reduce as the model matures. Buying a new model in this case would not be a good idea.
Some models I would recommend would be the Nissan Leaf, the New E6, Atto 3, and the MG ZS which has been in the market for some time. The prices would also depend on your age and vehicle usage so do ask for estimates before putting your deposits down!
