This was not the first time attempting to charge at Shell Recharge, also known as Greenlots. This was my first successful paid charging. The service was supposed to be easy to use but I encountered a big issue setting up my account. Learn more HERE. Parking here was an easy decision as it was nearby KK Women’s and Children’s hospital. I’ve decided to park here to charge instead of paying for parking at the hospital, it was just a short walk anyway.
This charger is also the only charger with free parking near town, I found myself frequently parking here to head into town if I have time and have an empty car to charge.
Parking
Parking is free of charge as it is located in a petrol station. Not easily seen as it is hidden at the back of the station but it has nice shade to protect your car from being too hot while charging under the afternoon sun. Good touch with that umbrella shade! Do note that there is only 1 parking lot available!
Parking prices and charger locations can be found on Greenlots station locator.
Charging
There are technically 2 chargers but with the design of the station, only 1 car can be parked at a time. Station has a Type 2 and CSS plug available and only 1 can be used at a time. It’s a shame because chargers should have 2 or more parking lots for 2 chargers, a little inconvenient for petrol kiosk charging in Singapore.
Amenities nearby
Toilets are available onsite, there really isn’t much nearby however Newton Food Court and KK hospital aren’t far away and that is the only reason you may be using this station to charge your electric vehicle.
*Do make sure your Greenlots account is set up and you have linked a credit/debit card that is good to be used, I had a bad experience using this service but it was an account setup issue. Shell should share and have a step-by-step guide on how to set up an account on the Shell Recharge App (Which used to be Greenlots app).
