Popular EV Chargers in Singapore

In this post, I’ll list the most popular EV chargers in Singapore that I would use and the reason why. Singapore is small and the amount of EVs on the road has been increasing! Public chargers on the other hand are not increasing fast enough, EVs should really be charged at home and I would encourage Singapore to think of slow chargers instead of fast DC chargers.

The following are the chargers I would recommend any EV user to try out and visit.

Marina Square

With a reasonable parking fee, you can get a SP GROUP charger that’s pretty much a charger to fight for. They have quite a lot of charging lots but with its location, they are always packed! Pretty popular place to have dinner, shop or visit esplanade from.

Ikea Alexendra / Tampines

Both branch used to have free charging but in recent times, this has changed. They are using PlugIt Cloud APP service to charge for their service now and I would really appreciate these kinds of services where you don’t need to take deposits to use their service. There are really bad companies out there with sneaky ways to take deposits from you that I found out the hard way.

With free parking at these locations (Alexandra branch will need a $5 purchase), this is a really good way to park for free and pay for charging. It is also a great place to have a meal, do some home shopping or just visit nearby establishments. It’s also great for families with kids as most kids love Ikea for their ice cream!

Our Tampines Hub

Served by Shell Recharge, this location is one of the last remaining free charging locations left in Singapore. With it being in the basement and a huge number of EV chargers available, this location is a great location to charge at. It’s downside is it does not have fast/DC charging available if you are looking for a quick charge. It is also located the furthest away from the entrance to the mall. This does not mean it’s a bad charging location but with shell recharge always breaking down, I’ll say that this service should not be relied on, reliability for this service is average at best.

Vivo City

Marche is our favorite establishment to eat here, there is a lift that will take you directly up to level 3 where they are located. This charger similarly is also a pretty popular place, served by SP Group they have a reasonable charging service. One negative thing to note is that the charger is hard to find depending on where you enter from level 1.

I’ll recommend entering from the pickup point near Sentosa gateway to basement 2, lobby H.

IMM Mall

With this location having really competitive parking rates, it’s no wonder this location is always crowded during peak hours like lunch and dinner. Especially on weekends, it’s really hard to find a charger at this location.

It is good to note that during off-peak hours this location, which uses SP group is less crowded, coming early to reserve your charging lot is a good idea.

Conclusion

With the many EV chargers getting crowded, you may like to schedule a charge with mobile EV charging operators. However, they do not guarantee a charge when you need it. Depending on availability, you may get a charge once a week however you have to have to schedule and plan early with these guys.
